What each blood test can tell you.
Each test answers a different clinical question. Symptoms can have many causes, and a result is not a diagnosis on its own. If you are unsure which test is appropriate, speak to our team before booking.

What it measuresFerritin is a protein that stores iron and gives an indication of the iron held in your body.
Why it may be consideredIt may be considered when iron deficiency is suspected or when a clinician is investigating symptoms or risk factors that could be related to low iron. Ferritin should not be interpreted on its own.
